IUSA Confirms Next Conference – NYC11 – Connecting Communities

NYC11 is a boutique conference and public festival being organised by the International Urban Screens Association (IUSA) in collaboration with our partners – Projects for Public Spaces (pps.org) and the Big Screen Project in NY.  The event will be held in New York City in September 2011. NYC11 follows on as the 5th in the series of International Urban Screens events which aims to inform and guide a significant worldwide movement: the extended use of various forms of dynamic screens in public spaces which is creating a new digital dimension of public space with its own fast-evolving enterprise.
The event will aim to showcase various case studies of successful implementations around the world and discuss best practice and future opportunities for urban regeneration and community engagement utilising this extremely powerful new medium.
NYC11 will bring together a diverse range of interest groups including screen operators, architects, civic planners, various cultural stakeholders, technologists, artists and academics, to discuss the implications and opportunities surrounding the use of digital screens in the public sphere, as it currently stands, particularly in the largely untapped North American market.
The event will include an exciting, largely experimental public festival and exhibition component – NYC11 – Connecting Communities – showcasing some of the most innovative and creative Urban Screen projects from around the world. NYC11 – Connecting Communities will reflect the current driving forces and trends in an increasingly interconnected, digital world. The website for the new event will be launched and announced in April along with public calls for content and registrations.
